CLONMACNOISE & WEST OFFALY RAILWAY gives you a unique opportunity to enjoy a guided 5.5 mile circular tour in a comfortable train coach which will give you an insight into a raising bog of major importance - THE BLACKWATER BOG in Co Offaly. 1200 years ago the area of bog you will cross lay beneath a glacier; 3000 years later there was a lake there and this developed slowly into a fen and finally a bog. |
