BALLINAHOWN'S JENNIFER BYRNE....INTERNATIONAL CALL UP
 

Ballinahown native Jennifer Byrne has been selected to represent Ireland in upcoming UEFA Under-17 Championship qualifiers. The 16-year-old, who plays in midfield, has been playing with Athlone-based club Bealnamulla for four years after starting her budding career under the guidance of Dermot and Fran Parker at local club Ballinahown. Jennifer will travel with the Ireland squad to Slovenia for the qualification phase of the UEFA Champianship, where Ireland will vie with Denmark, Turkey and Slovenia from October 10-15.

BALLINAHOWN'S MARK ROHAN ADAPTS QUICKLY TO NEW SPORT
Mark Rohan travelled to Oupeye in Belgium recently to compete in the final ECH race of 2009 and the Westmeath man finished a credible fourh place in the HCA category in what was just his second outing for the hand cycling team. Due to his fourth placed finish, Mark now also holds the distinction of claiming Ireland's first ever UCI ranking points in hand cycling.
